The Corbett, Nainital

The first National Park to be established in Mainland Asia is the most apt location to spot various wild animals like, elephants, bears, crocodiles and tigers. You could also indulge in bird watching and enjoy the beauty of this tiger resort.
Offering activities like wildlife movie show, the library and the museum, one could also get hold of some literature. Corbett remains open to tourists from 15th November to 15th June, the rest of the times it remains closed due to heavy monsoons.
Ranthambore, Rajasthan

Cuddled up in the Eastern zone of Rajasthan, Sawai Madhopur, popularly known as Gateway to Ranthambore is a treat for adventure enthusiasts as well as the ones with a fascination for history. The Ranthambore fort was recently included in the UNESCO World Heritage sights.
One of the best ways to observe wildlife at Ranthambore is through a safari. One could spot Sloth Bear,Leopards, Jackals, foxes , hyenas and the Bengal Tiger.One could also engage into the exotic species of the birds found here.
Bharatpur, Rajasthan

Bharatpur is a bird watcher’s paradise and is known for Keoladeo Ghana National Park.
This 29 Sq. Km. man made wet land is renowned for migratory birds, ducks, geese, waders, Raptors, fly catchers and more with more than 370 recorded species. It’s a world heritage sight having hosted the Siberian Crane.
Gir, Gujarat

The Gir National Park is an eminent wildlife destination in India, being the sole destination to spot the Asiatic lion it keeps on attracting travelers from around the globe.
It is located 43 kms from Somnath, other animals that canbe spotted here are crocodiles, leopards, cobra, jungle cat, black bugs, pangolin etc.
Kaziranga National Park, Assam

Kaaziranga National Park situated in Assam was declared a world heritage sight by UNESCO in 1985.
The parkis known for its good population on animals but more then that it’s the wildlife conservation initiated that takes place in the park are more popular. The park has successfully managed to lure the population of Greater One Horn Rhinoserous, an endangered specie. The park remains closed from 1st May to 31st October.
Sunderbans , West Bengal

The Sunderbans is a vast forest in the coastal region of West Bengal. It contains the world’s largest coastal mangrove forest. It has also been listed in the Unesco World’s Heritage List.
The region is home to numerous wildlife species and birds and reptiles, including Bengal Tiger, Chital, crocodile and snakes. A total of 245 genera and 334 plant species were recorded by David Train in 1903.
Bandhavgarh National Park, MP

Bandhavgarh National Park is located in the cntral Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. The bio diverse park is known for its large population of Royal Bengal Tigers, white tigers, leopards and bear. The mix of tropical forest, sal trees and grasslands is home to scores of bird species, including eagles. To the south are the remains of the Asisan Baandhavgarh fort. The park derives its name from the most prominent hillock of the area, which is said to be given by Lord Rama to his brother Lakshman to keep a watch on Lanka. The best time to visit the sanctuary is from October to May.
Kanha, MP
Kanha Tiger Reserve also called Kanha National Park is one of the Tiger reserves in India and the largest National park of Madhya Pradesh. The present day Kanha area is divided in to 2 Sanctuaries, Hallon and Banjar. The park has a significant population of Bengal tigers, Indian leopards, sloth bear, barah singha and Indian wild dog. The forest depicted in the famous novel by Rudyard Kipling, The Jungle Book is based on the jungles including this reserve. It is also the first tiger reserve in India who officially introduced a Mascot , Bhoorsingh the barah singha. The best time to visist the jungle is from October to June.
Bandipur National Wildlife Reserve, Karnataka
The Bandipur Tiger Reserve is spread across the states of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala, which is a fine example of managing interstate tiger reserve for the long term conservation of tigers. A very convenient and easy approach to the tiger reserve exists through NH-67, 80 kms from the heritage city of Mysore. The reserve is well connected by wireless and post services. Being one of the first nine tiger reserves in the country it is in the fore front of eco tourism for the last three decades. The students of the plant and animal life have an excellent opportunity of viewing the diverse wildlife and the flora.
Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary, Kerala

Periyar Tiger Reserve is an example of nature’s bounty with great scenic charm, rich bio diversity and providing veritable visitor satisfaction. The reserve is guarded and efficiently managed, promises rare endemic and endangered flora and fauna. Various eco tourism activities are carried out like nature and green walk, jungle patrol, border hiking, bamboo rafting, bamboo groove, jungle camp and bullock cart discoveries. The best time to visit the reserve is September to May. The tourists could also club the visit with major tourist spots around the reserve like Kovalam, Madurai etc.
